Her opponent would have been well within her rights to have refused to play because it was distracting. It is a tennis match not a style show. To the extent Williams turns the match into a style show with over-the-top look-at-me clothing then her opponent would have a valid complaint of being distracted.

Of course if her opponent would have complained the event would have had to deal with Al Sharpton there the next day calling foul.
