U.S. ski racer Lindsey Vonn to star in Vancouver Games
November 24, 2009Lindsey Vonn, the most successful female ski racer in U.S. history, is poised to win five medals in the Vancouver games. But despite her busy agenda, the importance of the Olympics still looms large. After all, Vonn, who is somewhat of a celebrity in Europe, where ski racing has a relatively big fan base, sees the Winter Games as an opportunity to get more Americans excited about the sport. “Everyone is really into the extreme sports these days, but you know, ski racing is really extreme,” she says. “We’re going down the mountain at 90 m.p.h. It’s really intense. If people really get a glimpse of it and get to know some of the characters of our sport, I think they would become fans.” – Vanity Fair
Lindsey, the winter games stink, but I’ll consider checking em out for you. -TO
