Dana White: Shaq Wants To Fight In The UFC

UFC boss Dana White on Shaquille O’Neal’s desire to fight in MMA: “Shaq texts and twitters me all the time saying he wants to fight Brock Lesnar. He’s been training for ten years; Shaq’s probably the only dude in the NBA that can actually fight I told Shaq, I said listen, ‘Win another NBA championship this year and then we’ll talk next year.’ I love Shaq, let me tell ya, when things were rough on us and we were getting this company started, I couldn’t tell ya who was a better friend than Shaquille O’Neal. I couldn’t say enough good things about him.” – Into The Night with Tony Bruno / Sports Radio Interviews

Dana White to talk with Shaq about fighting in UFC

Yo Terez, who is this little man with the big beard?

Is Shaquille O’Neal crazy enough to bring his immenseness to the UFC cage? UFC president Dana White sent a Twitter tweet to the 7-foot-1, 325-pound NBA giant on Friday that read: “After u win another championship this year let’s talk.” O’Neal continues to lobby for a shot in the cage, White said Saturday during a break in the UFC 100 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center. Asked if he would rule out the possibility, White said, “I would sit down and talk to him.” Size wouldn’t matter, he said. “We’ve got a lot of little guys that wouldn’t be worried about a guy of that size.” If it happened, White has no doubt about one outcome. “It would do a lot of pay-per-views,” he said. Since move to Cleveland, Shaquille O’Neal has become ‘Big Delusional’

I still got it T...Just wait man.. just wait..

I still got it T...Just wait man.. just wait..

All over Ohio, basketball fans are no doubt wracking their fertile minds, trying to come up with a new nickname for Shaquille O’Neal.

Let me save everybody all the mental gymnastics.

Just call the new Cav, the “Big Delusional.’’

Arriving with the motto, “Win a Ring for the King,’’ Shaq wasn’t in Cleveland five minutes when he dropped the E-bomb on Cavs owner Dan Gilbert. It’s always been about the dough for O’Neal and he didn’t hide his desire to get two more years after this one. That would take him through his 40th birthday.

“I’ve been in it for 17 years but I’ve missed three years because of injury,’’ he said of his storied NBA career. “If you do the math, I’ve still got three years left. You got that?”

Hey Big Guy, how about winning some games first? Go help Cleveland win its first title in any sport since 1964 before you look to add to your bank account. Go do what you did for Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade before you start asking for another $70 million extension.

“I’ve got three years left in my career,” he said. “I have a lot left. There’s only four or five good centers in the league and I’m in that number.’’

That last comment was about the only time Shaq conceded he’s dropped a notch due to age and all the wear and tear he’s taken winning four rings and going to the Finals two other times. But then he was back to being full of himself.

“We won’t be double-teaming any more,’’ he said, looking at coach Mike Brown, sitting to his left. “Never again.’’

In other words, he thinks he can handle Orlando‘s Dwight Howard by himself when the two top teams in the East go head to head. OK, we’ll have to see how that works out, because it really did not go very well for Shaq against Howard this past season.

“We have everything in place,’’ O’Neal also said at one point.

In other words, he didn’t see the need to bring in Ron Artest, who would  have added a much-needed perimeter shooter and a top-notch defender to the Cavs’ lineup. Artest last night agreed to play for the Lakers, which should make the defending champs the favorites going into next season. The Cavs still are not a championship team, just because Shaq arrived. Not at this stage of his career. This isn’t 2000 any more.

They need more size in the backcourt. They need another shooter on the wing. They’ve also got to figure out how they can have Shaq on the floor and not clogging the lane, preventing LeBron from doing what he does best.

While Brown figures that one out, Shaq promised to work on the new nickname.

“I’ve got to go home, play around with the kids and figure something out,’’ he said.

If he figures out how to help LeBron win a title, he can call himself anything he damn well pleases.

Shaq Going Old School With the Number 33

Terez, #33 and #23 are going to take down #24 next year..

CLEVELAND (AP) – Shaquille O’Neal hasn’t picked out a house in Cleveland yet. He has chosen a jersey number – his old one. Shaq is going back to No. 33. Traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday, the 15-time All-Star has decided to wear 33, the team confirmed Friday. That’s the number O’Neal wore in high school and at LSU before turning pro. O’Neal wore No. 32 when he was in Orlando, Miami and Phoenix. When he was with the Los Angeles Lakers, O’Neal wore 34 because Nos. 32 and 33 were retired for Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. O’Neal’s trade – and the Orlando Magic’s deal to get Vince Carter – overshadowed this year’s NBA draft. The Cavaliers had been working on a possible trade for months with Phoenix for O’Neal and finally agreed to a package that sent Ben Wallace, Sasha Pavlovic, a second-round pick in next year’s draft and $500,000 to the Suns. In Cleveland, O’Neal will be teammates with LeBron James, the latest in a long line of superstar partners to pair with the entertaining enter. O’Neal has previously with Anfernee Hardaway, Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade and Steve Nash. He won three titles with Bryant and the Lakers and one with Wade.

The deal is more than “90 percent” complete, according to the sources, and is merely awaiting final approval from the team’s owners. Cleveland will send Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic to Phoenix for the future Hall of Famer.

The Big Shaqawockee

It looks like the Big Cactus has plenty of water left in his tank. His last two games he scored a shaqtastic 78 points. A 45-point performance against Toronto and 33 points against his former team, the Lakers. His first back to back 30-point games since 2004. With a great performance at the All Star game and solid back to back games,  Shaq is back in our good graces after that awful Kobe taste my ass buisness. We forgive but dont forget.. -TO
