Riding high on the raves for her performance in “Nine” and her iTunes hit, “Cinema Italiano,” Kate has headed to the family chalet in Aspen to ski. “Kate is better off without A-Rod,” hisses one pal. “She had much better chemistry with Owen Wilson. Alex is such a diva. When he came to the London premiere of ‘Nine,’ it was obvious he didn’t like standing in the background. He’d show up late to every appearance.” A friend of A-Rod’s says, “He just went through a crazy divorce. He wasn’t ready for a serious relationship. Friends would ask him, ‘Do you love, Kate?’ He’d say, ‘She’s a good person.’ Alex is a romantic. He’s a love-at-first-sight guy. I think she was more into the idea of them together. Kate Hudson, upset by her breakup with Alex Rodriguez, found a sympathetic ear at the local premiere of “Nine.” At Tuesday’s after-party at M2 in Chelsea, Hudson was seen chatting quietly with Madonna, who dated the Yankee slugger last year. “When the cameras were on Kate she was all smiles. But privately you could tell she has had her heart broken,” a witness said. Humiliated Hudson, who was reportedly dumped by A-Rod because he felt she was hogging the spotlight, also flew in her mom, Goldie Hawn, to support her. Mother and daughter drank dirty martinis at M2 “and hung out all night,” a spy told Page Six. “It was her big premiere, and she was upset Alex wasn’t there to support her.” -New York Post

There’s trouble in paradise for Kate Hudson and Alex Rodriguez – so A-Rod headed to Miami to create his own weekend bliss. The slugger had quite a getaway without Hudson: Spies tell us he was spotted with the same leggy blond, first at an Armani Exchange “Cool Shades of Style” dinner on Saturday at the Delano Hotel, and later at Miami hot spot LIV. “She and Alex were introduced at the dinner, but it looked like they got pretty friendly pretty fast,” a partygoer dished, saying they were talking and laughing a lot, with the Yankee acting very much a single man. “They definitely left the dinner separately, but showed up at LIV together a few hours later,” the spy says. They weren’t exactly alone. Derek Jeter celebrated Thanksgiving by showing girlfriend Minka Kelly around the palatial home he’s building in Tampa, Fla. The Yankee hero gave the stunning actress and his parents a tour of his 30,875-square- foot, seven-bedroom, nine-bathroom waterfront home on Davis Island. His dad, Dr. Charles Jeter, and his mother, Dorothy, were spotted checking out the property’s 6-foot-tall “privacy” fence, which will keep prying eyes away. Construction on the house, dubbed “St. Jetersburg” by locals, is expected to be finished next summer. What will be Tampa’s biggest mansion, comprising two stories built over three lots, will boast a pair of three-car garages and entertainment, billiard and memorabilia rooms. Jeter and Kelly, who were just back from a romantic vacation in St. Barts, made the holiday visit to start planning how they would decorate the enormous pad. Afterward, they returned to his other house in North Tampa for Thanksgiving dinner. A spy said: “He was proudly showing off his new house to Minka and his parents. It’s so big, they could all have a wing each. “With the construction workers off for Thanksgiving, it was the perfect time to have a look at the house, plan with Minka how it will be decorated and what furniture they need. But they’re going need a lot of furniture to fill it.” In California, it was less of a Yankee family affair. Alex Rodriguez demonstrated that, to be his girlfriend, you have to ditch the turkey and exercise hard, even on holidays. A-Rod and Kate Hudson were spotted working out together at Gold’s Gym in Venice Thursday morning. Kate Hudson and Alex Rodriguez got their Thanksgiving off to a healthy start, with a work-out at the famous Gold’s Gym in Venice, CA. Ever since the World Series, the actress and the Yankee slugger seem to be more open about their romance, and are not hiding from fans and photogs. Kate traditionally joins her mom and stepdad, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell for a big family gathering on Thanksgiving. We’re guessing A-Rod has a seat at the table this year. -Radar Online

The lovebirds went shopping. While exclusive photos of Derek Jeter and his girlfriend Minka Kelly frolicking on the beach were splashed across three pages of The Post yesterday, the handsome couple skipped the beach for some retail therapy. They stopped in Chloe and Louis Vuitton stores and left with shopping bags, and then visited the Cartier shop, where it would have been hard to miss all the diamond engagement rings for sale. – NY Post
