The UFC got a quick pop on Dr. Phil on Friday in an attempt to scare some kids straight. Since almost every afternoon talk show is all about shock value, Dr. Phil showed a ridiculous video of kids fighting “UFC-style” in a classroom. UFC president Dana White, Forrest Griffin and Kenny “Florini” Florian were brought in to lecture the young tikes.

A national women’s sports media group is calling upon UFC President Dana White to apologize for disparaging comments he recently made about a female reporter, FOXSports.com has learned.

The Association for Women in Sports Media (AWSM) issued a press release Wednesday calling for the Ultimate Fighting Championship to “take action in regards to misogynistic comments” that White made in a video blog posted on the promotion’s Web site. AWSM President Jenni Carlson said her group’s request for an apology from UFC went unanswered.

Last Wednesday, White delivered a profanity-filled tirade toward Sherdog.com’s Loretta Hunt for a story she wrote about the promotion’s credentialing policy for fighter managers and agents. White called Hunt, among other things, a “(expletive) dumb bitch” for “an absolutely (expletive) retarded story” and ripped one of her sources as a “(expletive) faggot.”

“This is disheartening because this behavior is unacceptable,” Carlson wrote. “It establishes a hostile work environment not only for Loretta but all women who cover the UFC. We cannot accept that any female sports journalist would have to work in an environment of intimidation or a hostile workplace.”

A UFC spokesman didn’t immediately respond to an email seeking comment.

White’s tirade also triggered apology demands from the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD). White complied last week in another UFC video blog.

Dana White doesn’t hold back when he has something to say. How many women even watch UFC? He is a stubborn dude who refuses to apologize to that biatch. Will it cost him? I doubt it. He is  getting awesome press  from this story.  Dana knows exactly what he is doing. -TO

“I hurt people that I didn’t intend to hurt and when you do something like that, yes, I believe that you should say you’re sorry,” White told ESPN.com Page 2 columnist Mary Buckheit in a telephone interview. “I never intended to hurt anybody in the gay community, or be malicious, or look like a hateful guy. I never meant to hurt anyone in the gay or lesbian community at all, in any way, shape or form. I would never do that. I was speaking to [Sherdog.com reporter] Loretta Hunt. I didn’t mean to bring those people into this, it had nothing to do with them and for that, I’m sorry.”

 White used an anti-gay slur in the video blog. He also called Hunt, who writes for Sherdog.com (a partner of ESPN.com which covers mixed martial arts), a “[expletive] bitch” and called her story on backstage credentialing issues “absolutely [expletive] retarded.”

Dana White is very quotable. The guy puts his foot in his mouth everytime he is interviewed. I don’t believe his apology for one minute. He is  a jag bag and hangs out with jag bags. This is PR spin control. You know what they say, bad press is good press. -TO
