Kate Hudson and Alex Rodriguez were spotted getting cozy last month at a restaurant in New York City, and now a source confirms they are dating. “It’s somewhat serious,” the source tells PEOPLE in its upcoming issue. “He introduced her to a bunch of his friends.” For her part, Hudson followed Rodriguez on the road late last month to Dallas, when the Yankees played the Texas Rangers in a three-game series. The actress and son Ryder, 5 (dad is Chris Robinson), stayed at the same hotel as Rodriguez, and the couple “worked out together in the fitness center,” says an eyewitness. Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez seems to have traded in a vintage Madonna for a late-model Kate Hudson. The blond, Los Angeles-born actress — who met A-Rod at the reopening of the Fontainebleau hotel in Miami Beach last November — was photographed at Friday’s game, cheering on the Bronx Bombers at the new Yankee Stadium. But the real action came later that night at Mustang Grill on Second Avenue. Our source said a bartender at the Southwestern joint at 85th Street “was asking patrons not to go in the back room around 1 a.m. because A-Rod and Kate Hudson were back there making out.” One staffer at the restaurant confirmed to Page Six the two were there celebrating the Yanks’ win against the Minnesota Twins. “Yes, they were here together,” the server told us, although she did not witness any lip-lock herself. Pete Rose believes players who use steroids commit a transgression far worse than his admitted betting on the game, but Major League Baseball’s disgraced hit king said he’d back an admitted user like Alex Rodriguez for the Hall of Fame.Rodriguez said in February that he used performance-enhancing drugs while playing for the Texas Rangers during a three-year period beginning in 2001. “I’m willing to give a guy a second chance,” Rose said in an interview on “The Dan Patrick Show.” He later went on to say that steroid use is worse than someone such as himself betting on his own team to win.Rose was banned from baseball in 1989 for betting on games while managing the Cincinnati Reds. The 68-year-old Rose is not eligible to be on the Hall of Fame ballot. “When you take steroids you have a direct outcome of the game,” Rose said. “That’s the integrity of the game. And when you can change records when you do something illegal, it’s just not right. … Baseball records are sacred. ESPN is blackballing the hottest reporter of the week because she snubbed the sports network and gave her first interviews to Bob Costas and the “Today” show. Selena Roberts’ book “A-Rod: The Many Lives of Alex Rodriguez,” out last week from HarperCollins, made headlines with allegations the game’s highest-paid player took ster oids. Roberts, who rejected a job offer from ESPN and joined Sports Illustrated a year and a half ago, is willing to appear on ESPN, but the sports net work won’t put her on. “By the time we had a chance to put her on, the story was four days old,” ESPN spokesman Mike Soltys told Page Six. – NY Post
