Vancouver city council has opened the door for an Ultimate Fighting Championship show in the city by approving a two-year trial period for mixed martial arts. Councillors voted six to three yesterday to allow Vancouver to regulate and sanction the combat sport, which is expected to generate millions of dollars for the local economy. UFC president Dana White, who has Vancouver pencilled in for a show next year, was quick to celebrate the news. “Vancouver is sanctioned!!!,” he said via Twitter. “Another one down! Thanks to everyone in Vancouver who helped. See you in 2010.” –Toronto Sun

Mystery Illness Revealed: UFC champion Brock Lesnar has bacterial infection

Terez, all the years of roids and vicodin have tapped me out..

UFC President Dana White said Monday that heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar is recovering from a bacterial infection in his intestinal tract. “He’s in stable condition and should be released soon,” UFC President Dana White said. Asked if Lesnar was in a Bismarck hospital, White said, “I think he is,” but did not want to say which hospital because he wanted to protect Lesnar’s privacy. White said he is encouraging Lesnar to check into the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., for further treatment. He also said he did not know if the 32-year-old South Dakota native will fight again.”It depends on how serious this is,” White said. Bismarck’s St. Alexius hospital said Lesnar was not a patient there. The other hospital in the city, Medcenter One, would not confirm or deny he was there. Lesnar, who grew up on a dairy farm in Webster, S.D., is a former wrestler at Bismarck State College. He lives in Alexandria, Minn. Lesnar was an NCAA heavyweight wrestling champion, and later wrestled professionally with World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. He failed at a bid to play for the Minnesota Vikings. Lesnar announced last month he was withdrawing from his Nov. 21 UFC title defense match because of an unspecified illness. White said Monday that Lesnar wanted to thank his fans for support. But he said it’s tough to tell how 6-foot-3, 265-pound Lesnar is feeling. “He’s never in good spirits and he’s not in good spirits now,” White said. -AP

Dana White to Rampage Jackson: I’m a bad enemy to have

Terez, Rampage is dead to me...No more UFC milk for the big baby..

UFC President Dana White talked to Dave Meltzer about his situation with Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and it appears White is not to impressed with Rampage and that they are no longer friends: “Something’s about to happen there. You know me, we were good friends. When I’m your friend, I’m your best friend on the world. But we’re not friends anymore, and when I’m your enemy, I’m a bad enemy to have.” mmanews.com

Rampage could care less as long as his movie career pans out..That being said, he will come crawling back to D White once the A-Team movie finishes..But, maybe he’ll get lucky and there will be 3 sequels… -TO

Mystery Illness Sidelines UFC Champ Lesnar

Terez, I am sick...possibly swine flu or withdrawal..not sure which one..

Brock Lesnar — the UFC Heavyweight Champ — is in “bad shape” according to UFC president Dana White and won’t be fighting anytime soon. White made the announcement after UFC 105 last night, saying “He’s in a hospital up in North Dakota somewhere right now. He went to Canada and some bad stuff happened to him, so we’ve got to figure it out … He doesn’t want to talk about it publicly, but he’s in bad shape. He’s not well and he’s not going to be getting well anytime soon.” Lesnar originally pulled out of a November 18 fight and reports suggested he had swine flu. The fight was rescheduled for January 2, but then it was announced Lesnar had mononucleosis.  But White made it clear, Lesnar’s problems go beyond mono: “He is not good. He is very, very sick and he’s going to be out for a while.” -TMZ

Outspoken Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco called out Fighters.com and UFC Middleweight Champion “Spider” Anderson Silva (25-4) to fight for charity Wednesday night.  UFC President Dana White accepted the challenge on behalf of Silva. “Awesome! I’m fighting Anderson Silva,” Ochocinco replied on his Twitter page.  “I can’t wait to throw my child please combo with a kiss da baby leg kick, Silva can shut the front door!” The back-and-forth between Ochocinco, formerly Chad Johnson, and White began when Ochocinco posted to White’s Twitter page, “Dana this Ocho Cinco, I want to fight your #1 and #2 best fighters asap, exhibition to raise money for a charity of choice!!!!!!”  Ochocinco added, “Matter of fact I want Anderson Spider Silva—please don’t ignore me or you’ll have to fight me yourself!!! Dana White once again voiced his displeasure over the fact that Fedor Emelianenko is not fighting Brock Lesnar in the Octagon next. But rather Brett Rogers in a Strikeforce cage.
