Oneal, and #1 no that is not a masonic symbol, and #2 it is not some malarkey, its real and he’s committed to have made it that far, even if he was permitted to go a shorter way which I don’t think he was.#3 you can research the Apron and you will understand that he’s proud to be wearing it, especially in the manner in which he is. and just so you and your readers understand, Masonry is not a religion and has never claimed to be, that symbol with the six pointed star and the logo going around it are not involved in any portion of masonry that I’ve been involved with and I have obtained my 32 degree, and my father is a 33 (Honorary final degree) and neither of us know of that symbol, and we’ve been involved in masonry our whole lives. You really should take that down, even if you are against masonry, you should still be fair, and honest to yourself and the people you reach.

The symbol is from the theosophical society. Anyway, re: one of the other comments, Freemasonry IS a religion. It amazes me how many so-called masons have never even bothered to read Albert Pike or Manly Palmer Hall, two of the most revered and influential masons EVER. Both of whom have long ago spilled the beans as to the real nature of modern freemasonry, which even on an exoteric level praise the ‘Grand Architect of the Universe’. Atheists are not accepted into freemasonry. It IS a religion.

The fact that none of the apparent masons here have recognized the symbol of the Theosophical Society shows how dumbed-down they are and how pathetic their knowledge is of esoteric orders and symbolism and even the history of their own organization. Theosophy is not masonry, but any mason worth his salt should know the historical relationship between them. So where have all the ‘enlightened’, symbol-literate freemasons gone? To the person who wrote comment #13…I appreciate your zeal in trying to discredit masons and assigning masonry to a theological point. It has been my understanding in the short 15 years that I have been acquainted with the “craft”that Masonry is in fact not a religion but promotes the study of not one but all theosophical avenues. With that being said I would think your idea of all Masons being “ignorant,insecure, hangers on and hobnobbers” may be a bit to the left and it seems quite apparent that you at one time probably tried to join a lodge and for some reason or another were declined entry. Whatever the reason for your deep seated hate and discontent for we the proud members of such an ancient and honorable institution may be…we will be satisfied to leave you wallowing in your frustration and continue on in our path of enlightenment all the while smiling and trying to think of new ways to take over the world. ahh hahahahahahah (evil scientist laugh) Good day to you sir.

I ask my brothers who have commented on this forum to take another look and ask yourselves the question that was asked of you in the beginning…what are the boundaries of our craft? (of course you will not answer on this forum.) and what are we as members of the craft to be on the look out for? Masons watch out for one another just like gang members do. So no surprise that they are backing up Shaq. In the end it is his life, just like the other masons. Why must you join a fraternity to better yourself?   ritual is a word that just means something you repeat often. every fraternity has rituals… instead of making the candidates drink piss or do something vile, freemasonry’s rituals are stories of self-improvement. They look after each other and everyone else (while rarely taking credit) and men join the group to help keep each other in line with self-improvement. Its roots are based around King Solomon’s temple because he is a figure that is universal to all religions and the goal is to bring good men together, not to separate them because they have slightly different beliefs. You must believe in a One creator. Other than that religion is never discussed. Nor Politics. They use stories about the building of the temple… hence the square and compasses which are ancient stone mason tools. So they use working tools as metaphors for building your inner temple for god using the same morals that every religious text teaches… and that is peace. fyi

But in the mason’s own writing the Church has been their principle enemy who they blame for a good deal of the subjugation.
