Dallas high school coach uses NBA Thuggery as a Teaching Tool

Can I borrow a buck Terez? I need a double cheeseburger..

Latrell Sprewell attacking his coach, Ron Artest assaulting fans, Kobe Bryant accused of sexual assault. That’s just a handful of players giving the NBA a bad rap. Yet somehow the negative headlines rarely include any of the ten or so players from Dallas area high schools. To find out why, WFAA visited the school that produced one of the area’s two All Stars.  The leader of their 2002 national championship team, Chris Bosh, is an Olympic champion, an All Star, and a solid citizen. But in spite of all the positives, the NBA can’t seem to escape its own stigma. Things hit rock bottom in 2004, when players in Detroit stormed the stands. Five years later, three-time All Star Gilbert Arenas clearly missed the message. Bringing guns into the locker room earned him a full year’s suspension. At Lincoln High, coach Leonard Bishop says solving the NBA’s image problem starts with coaches like him, teaching responsibility. “Our motto is be where you are supposed to be, when you are supposed to be there, doing what you are supposed to be doing,” said one student. It works on the court and in life. “It keep you out of trouble, keep you scoring the ball, everything,” the student said. Here, the NBA’s problems are all teaching tools.  –WFAA.com

Just wait til these kids have some dough in their pockets and we’ll see how nice they are. To see Coach Bishop teach his kids take the jump. -TO
