Vikings QB Christian Ponder looked sharp in Sunday’s 34-24 win over the Detroit Lions, passing for 221 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. He used the moment to address the fact he’s dating someone and playing football at the same time. “I want to thank my girlfriend,” Ponder told The Star Tribune after the game. “Because she obviously has such a big impact on how I play. Which allowed me to win. So thank you.” Do I sense a hint of sarcasm in those comments? Great way to stick it to the man.-TO

Vikings QB Christian Ponder has been struggling the past month or so. He’s really having some putrid outings, which has lead some to believe his relationship with ESPN’s Samantha Steele is to blame. Not the case says Ponder, “”[Samantha] has nothing to do with it,” Ponder told KFAN’s Paul Allen. “We’ve been dating since the beginning of the season so she had also to do with the five wins. It has really nothing to do with anything on the football field.” “She’s a huge football fan,” Ponder said of Steele. “She understands the game and understands the commitment to the game and commitment to work. She’s the one who pushes me to do better at my job.” I agree with Ponder, if they started dating mid season, then yes, it might be an issue.-TO
