Last weekend Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper and Miami Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen had a little run in…Well, it looks like the Nats are trying to diffuse the situation with a little humor…Via the Marlins website, “During the feud, several Washington players pulled a prank. Adam LaRoche had Harper sign a bat for him. Harper didn’t know the purpose, but it’s common for players to get autographs from each other. From there, LaRoche added next to the signature, “To my hero, Ozzie, love you.” The Nationals players had the bat smeared with pine tar and sent it to Guillen” This is the kind of good clean fun sports needs.-TO

Ozzie strikes again — Over the weekend, there was an incident between Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper and Miami Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen — Ozzie felt like the Nationals phenom was showing him up. “I was just telling him how cute he was,” Guillen said, refusing to divulge details. “Something happened there the inning before, and I didn’t like it and I was talking to the umpire about it. “I could have said a lot of [stuff] about this kid,” Guillen said following his team’s 4-0 loss to the Nationals. “I’ve been praising this kid like every day. The last three times they asked me about him, the only thing I said was he’s a great player. What he did [today] was unprofessional.” Ozzie never backs down. To see the Video continue reading.-TO

Ozzie Guillen was suspended five games by the Miami Marlins in advance of a news conference this morning where he explained his explosive comments about Fidel Castro – ”I’m sorry that I hurt the community without any intention,” Guillen said in Spanish. “I’m here to say I’m sorry. I don’t want to make excuses,” he said. “But I meant that I was surprised Fidel Castro stayed in power so long. That’s what was missing in the translation. … I’m not saying the journalist was wrong. Marlins new manager Ozzie Guillen just popped his cherry and was ejected from Monday’s Grapefruit League game between the Miami Marlins and Boston Red Sox for arguing with an umpire. Red Sox new skip Bobby Valentine decided it would be funny to say goodbye. From WEEI.com: “As Guillen exited the field through the tunnel next to the Red Sox dugout, Valentine waved. Asked if he said anything to his Miami counterpart, Valentine recalled saying, “See ya.” Guillen did not see or hear Valentine’s remarks, but asked how he would have reacted, Guillen made his feelings clear. “I don’t see it. Ozzie Guillen is going through a professional transition…The Former Chicago White Sox skipper has decided to take his talents to the Miami Marlins, but before he does that, the rawest major league manager made a pit stop in Panama to renew his vows…Via Ozzies’s blog, ” had a great time down in Panama and actually had a chance to do something that I had only done once before — I renewed my vows. After 28 years of being married, I decided it was time. I did it all on my own; my wife had no clue. See, I guess I can be romantic (haha). I guess since we didn’t get divorced after 72 days the first time around (72 days seems kinda fast) I think we will make it this time too. I just want to say thank you to my wife, Ibis, and my family for sticking with me, even though some of them have no choice (haha)” Ozzie is one of a kind, and If I played baseball, I’d definitely want to play for him.
