Erin Andrews, who has been the reporter on some of ESPN’s Monday night baseball coverage, won’t be on hand this time. But an ESPN spokesman said that has nothing to do with the recent controversy over a nude video of her surfacing on the Internet, which was taken without her knowledge while she was in a hotel room getting ready for work. The spokesman said Andrews, who worked on ESPN’s Home Run Derby coverage last week at Busch Stadium, already was scheduled to be off from mid-July until early September. – St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Maybe the hunky third baseman should keep the blond babe close by. Hudson, who has followed Rodriguez from Dallas to Miami to see him play, has been a frequent fixture at Yankee Stadium. Poor Jessica Simpson is having a tough time getting over being dumped by Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. Supposedly Simpson’s parents have advised her to get counseling — especially since Jessica has reportedly begged Romo to take her back. Don’t count on that. Reps for Harrah’s hotel in Lake Tahoe are finally speaking out about the alleged sexual assault that occurred on their property back in 2008 involving Ben Roethlisberger. A civil lawsuit filed by Ben’s accuser — Andrea McNulty — claims Harrah’s head of security blew her off and threatened her job if she reported the alleged incident. -TMZ

A spokesperson tells us:

“We are confident that once all the facts are brought to light, a much different story will emerge and our employees will be dismissed from the case. It is also important to note that Harrah’s Entertainment is not a party to this case and we will have no further comment at this time.”

Scandalous nude video footage of sports host Erin Andrews was probably shot by an employee of her home network ESPN, a source tells RadarOnline.com. Currently, the network is launching a full-scale investigation to find the looky-lou and discipline him accordingly. ESPN is “freaking out, freaking!” the source adds. ESPN frequently books Hilton hotels for employees traveling on assignment. But, the hotels have not yet been identified according to the source. The video, which features Andrews fully nude from all angles, was shot without her knowledge, her lawyers insist, “in the privacy of her hotel room.” Seven separate videos exist, dating back to February of this year. – Radar Online

Abbott Laboratories was warned by U.S. regulators over a promotional DVD where basketball Hall of Fame member Earvin “Magic” Johnson discusses his experience with the HIV treatment Kaletra. The consumer-directed video “minimizes the serious risks” and “overstates the efficacy” of the medicine, the Food and Drug Administration said in a warning letter posted today on the agency’s Web site. Abbott stopped using the DVD earlier this year and will work with the FDA to address its concerns, according to Michelle Johnson, a company spokeswoman. Abbott was warned in 2004 over a print advertisement for Kaletra that failed to include risk information and implied that patients can expect to be healthy for at least five years, which hasn’t been proven, according to the letter. The FDA said it is concerned that the drugmaker is continuing to use promotions for the drug that are misleading and in violation of federal law. – Bloomberg
