Plax Hopes Judge is Lax

Terez, I am honored and humbled you have chosen me as the Biggest Dumbass in Sports.

Terez, I am honored and humbled you have chosen me as the Biggest Dumbass in Sports.

The attorney for Plaxico Burress has been in constant communication with the Manhattan district attorney’s office for months, trying to get the charges against Burress resolved so that the New York Giants wide receiver can avoid a lengthy trial with the goal of returning to the NFL in time for the 2009 season, a source with knowledge of those conversations said Thursday.

Burress is expected to appear in Manhattan criminal court Tuesday morning for a pre-trial hearing. So far, no plea arrangement has been reached.

”Stay tuned,” a source close to the case said Thursday.

After accidentally shooting himself in a Manhattan night club last Nov. 29, Burress was arraigned Dec. 1 on two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a loaded and unlicensed weapon, a Glock semi-automatic pistol, which is a felony and carries a mandatory minimum jail sentence of 3½ years.

Noted criminal defense attorney Benjamin Brafman, who represents Burress, did not return phone calls. A spokesman for Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau, who has been under intense public pressure since the start of this case to prosecute Burress to the fullest extent of the law, declined to comment.

I don’t think we will be seeing  Burress on the field for the Giants  in 09. This trial is moving forward.   He will be forever known as the biggest dumbass in sports. Shooting yourself while wearing sweatpants takes the cake. Great Job Plax! -TO

John McEnroe Duped

G-d Damn it Terez. Why me? Why? F-ck you for writing this story..

G-d Damn it Terez. Why me? Why? F-ck you for writing this story..

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Former tennis champion John McEnroe was duped along with Bank of America, investment firms, art owners and collectors in a sophisticated $88 million art investment scam revealed in New York on Thursday.

Art dealer Lawrence Salander, 59, was arrested at his New York home on Thursday, when he and his gallery were charged with 100 counts, including grand larceny and securities fraud, Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau told a news conference.

Salander pleaded not guilty in New York’s Supreme Court and his bail was set at $1 million. He faces up to 25 years in prison on the most serious charge.

“We intend to vigorously defend against these allegations in the courtroom.” Salander’s lawyer Charles Ross said.

So far, authorities have identified 26 victims of Salander’s scheme, including McEnroe, who lost $2 million after investing a half share in two paintings, Arshile Gorky’s “Pirate I and II.” The share in the paintings was sold at the same time to another collector, and McEnroe never recouped the money, authorities said.

Schemes and Scams are so popular these days. Everyone gets duped  at least once in their lives. McEnroe could argue with the best of them. Too bad he can’t argue to recover his money. Sorry Johnny, maybe next time you won’t invest your money in art. -TO

Margarito: Plaster of Paris

They call me Plaster Hands Homie

They call me Plaster Hands Homie

The hand wraps confiscated from former welterweight champion Antonio Margarito shortly before his title defense against “Sugar” Shane Mosley contained two primary elements of plaster of Paris, the Los Angeles Times reported, citing documents obtained from California’s top law enforcement agency.

A California Department of Justice senior criminalist who inspected the wrappings under a stereomicroscope and with an X-ray fluorescence spectrometer determined the wraps contained sulfur and calcium, according to a document obtained by the Times. Those two elements, with the addition of oxygen, make plaster of Paris.

The hand wraps were removed from Margarito’s fists shortly before his Jan. 24 title fight against Mosley when Mosley’s trainer, Nazim Richardson, objected to their use. The hardened gauze pads, which had been inserted inside the hand wraps near Margarito’s knuckles, were seized by the California State Athletic Commission, which sanctions and oversees boxing in the state.

Mosley went on to claim a TKO win in the ninth round and take the WBA welterweight title.

In February, following a hearing days after the fight, the state athletic commission revoked the licenses of Margarito and his trainer, Javier Capetillo, for one year. The commission’s decision is likely to be upheld in other states.

“The [state athletic] commission’s decision appears to be supported by that report,” said Karen Chappelle, the state supervising deputy attorney general for licensing who urged the state commission to revoke Margarito’s and Capetillo’s licenses.

“The only things that are allowed in hand wraps are gauze and tape and those items aren’t gauze and tape,” she said, according to the Times.

Margarito and Capetillo have yet to appeal the revocations of their licenses.

According to the report, Margarito’s promoter, Bob Arum, had no immediate response to the findings.

“I’d have to see [the report],” Arum said.

Why didn’t Margarito use brass knuckles, they are way more effective than plaster. Cheating is so common place in sports these days, nothing surprises me anymore.  -TO

Po Po Placed on Admin Leave

Terez, I didn't deserve that BS

Terez, I didn't deserve that BS

DALLAS (AP)—A police officer was placed on administrative leave Thursday over a traffic stop involving an NFL player whom he kept in a hospital parking lot and threatened to arrest while his mother-in-law died inside the building.

Officer Robert Powell also drew his gun during the March 18 incident involving Houston Texans running back Ryan Moats in the Dallas suburb of Plano, police said.

“I can screw you over,” he said at one point in the videotaped incident. When another officer came with word that Moats’ mother-in-law was indeed dying, Powell’s response was: “All right. I’m almost done.”

Dallas Police Chief David Kunkle apologized to the family and announced that Powell would be on paid leave pending an internal investigation.

“When we at the command staff reviewed the tape, we were embarrassed, disappointed,” Kunkle said. “It’s hard to find the right word and still be professional in my role as the police chief. But the behavior was not appropriate.”

Powell, 25, a three-year member of the force, stopped Moats’ SUV outside Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano after Moats rolled through a red light.

Police officials said Powell told his commanders he believed he was doing his job, and that he drew his gun but did not point it. Kunkle said Powell was not necessarily acting improperly when he pulled his weapon out, but that once he realized what was happening should have put the gun back, apologized and offered to help the family in any way.

The cop deserved to be punished. The video clearly shows the pig was out of line.  Some cops let the gun and badge get to their heads and someone died as a result  of that arrogance. -TO

Ryan Moats Dashboard Cam Video Part 2

Video from a police dashboard camera shows Dallas Police Officer Robert Powell stopping NFL player Ryan Moats, who was rushing with his wife and other relatives to the hospital March 17 to see his ailing mother-in-law in the hospital. She died while Moats was given a ticket in front of the hospital

A long video but an interesting one. Cops are pigs.  Part 1 of the video is a few posts back-TO
